Description
This is a charcoal drawing on pastelbord from a photo I took on St John, USVI. I took pictures of this young donkey and his/her mother.
Donkeys were used in plantation era for transportation and to operate sugar mills. No longer needed by man, they remain on St. John traveling in small social groups (http://www.seestjohn.com/fauna_donkeys.html).
